Today is my birthday (holy hell – I’m 50!!!) and I wanted to share my 2022 in review. Hold onto your hats, settle in with some popcorn and drink, or the TL;DR portion: 2002 was FULL and CHALLENGING.
I am not so sad to see 2022 behind me.
It was, without question, my best year in business ever. Fantastic clients, excellent revenue, lots of time in the woods. I feel I’ve stepped into my work in a more powerful way that serves clients deeply and creatively. Even I am surprised sometimes where our sessions go. It’s that variety that keeps me engaged and enlivened to show up for my clients day after day.
Personally, 2022 was a tough year. Parents on both sides needed a lot of support. My hubs is having his own back + shoulder troubles and isn’t finding any lasting relief. Being surrounded by people with health challenges has been heavy, draining, and limiting.
I also look back and see how (over-)committed I was to learning. Was it all necessary? I don’t know. But it’s all DONE and I’m glad for it.
- A six-month coaching program starting in March of 2021 and extended all through 2022 (my choice). A LOT of my success in business I attribute to my time spent with Rich Litvin and the awesome coaches he gathers. I learned and elevated myself like never before.
- I took a deep dive into Internal Family Systems. I’m not certified in IFS and probably never will be, but I gained so much insight into parts work and my own internal family system. It’s changed the way I coach and how I see my clients, relationships, and the world for the better.
- I became a Certified Forest Therapy Guide. This program was INTENSE. Tons of reading, numerous projects, and a daily commitment to deepening my relationship with the more-than-human world. It was awesome…and tiring. But very worth it.
- In late December, I received news that I’d earned the designation of Certified Sparked Advisor! Jonathan Fields and his team have created this amazing body of work called Sparketypes ™ that helps people discover what makes them come alive. I love unpacking this work – including the assessment results – to help people really understand the things that “spark” them. If you’re curious, you can take the free assessment here: https://sparketype.com/
- I committed to quarterly mastermind retreats with a powerful coach friend of mine, Emma Churchman. Her 5-minute coaching insights, constant focus on “What else is possible?”, and our walks in the woods kept me grounded and moving forward.
- There were also lots of shorter programs and learnings I invested in that helped me personally and professionally. This darn post is quite long enough and some of these learnings I am still processing, unpacking, or integrating.
2023 is going to look mighty different. I am committed to just a few things:
- Nature. Deepening my relationship with the more-than-human world. This looks like a recommitment to my sit spot practice, more time sleeping outdoors, and more time in my kayak. Quiet. Thoughtful. Deliberate.
- Writing. I’m writing two books (yes, kind of simultaneously). One non-fiction, one fiction. We’ll see what happens! 😳🤣
- Coaching + Wayfinding. I love my boutique practice. I’m not for everyone, but I am for those who want to go deeper, know themselves better, love themselves deeply/madly/truly, and who actively create lives and work that they LOVE (because that goodness ripples outward and it is how we impact + change the world for the better). And if we coach + wayfind while walking through the woods, allllllllll the better (because our nervous systems truly need a break from all the noise and input of our modern, busy lives).
- Friends. I am surrounded by interesting, thoughtful, funny, and delightful people. I want MORE time with them, sipping coffee or a glass of wine, walking, kayaking, backpacking, and talking about anything and everything.
There you have it. My brain dump from 2022 and my forward look for 2023. Wheeeeee!
Warmly,
Angie
