My business consistently grows through referrals, word-of-mouth, and repeat clients. It’s been that way since I started my business in 2003 when my friend and mentor Karen Geiger sent out an introductory email to her list and said, “If you need business support, call Angie.” I got my first two clients from that incredibly generous shout-out and I’ve been in business ever since.
I’ve tried all the advertising things and other business-building activities, but those three avenues consistently and reliably bring me THE BEST CLIENTS and THE BEST WORK.
I’ve got three potential clients in the hopper who are making decisions about length of contract plus FIVE clients renewing for next year!
It feels so good to have so many repeat clients. We go deeper and do better work each engagement we commit to. And as I learn and grow, I bring new tools, better questions, and more depth to our work. Their life satisfaction keeps going up, their Core of Peace and Power gets stronger and stronger, and their fulfillment with their work or business becomes more real and true.
And it feels so good that people trust me enough and see the value of my coaching to refer me to others. That humbles me in the most delightful ways.
AND – none of this has happened overnight. March of this year marked my TWENTIETH year in business.
I’ve had very, very lean years where I’ve considered trying to get a job-job because I couldn’t sign up enough clients to save my life. I’ve had “enough” years where my work and client load was just right and got me by. And I’ve had booming years where I got to boost my savings, make investments in myself, and saw my client roster become very, very full (I’m starting to see 2024 is going to be that way).
And isn’t this just like Nature? In the Spring, I can FEEL the abundance coming, but it’s just getting blooming. In the summer, it’s all the fruit and veggies I can stand and then some. And by fall, I’m ready for a break from the too muchness. And in winter, I’m glad for the chance to rest and recuperate…until late February when I’m cold, tired, and a little scared about how bad March is going be … and REALLY ready for the fruits and veggies again!
Anyhooooo – this post is one of abundance and gratitude.
I said no to a LOT of things this year. No to potential clients who weren’t a good fit. No to so many programs and learning opportunities. No to retreats. No to meet ups. No to ideas. No to opportunities to spend money I do have.
I’m learning to be more strategic in where and how I spend my money. I’m doing better planning for the future. I’m learning I will only invest in Top Shelf support, quality clothing, and delightful experiences.
And, I’m only saving YES to clients who delight me. Who are ready for the depth of coaching that I provide. And when I look at this list of repeat clients and potential new clients, my Core of Peace hums REALLY REALLY loudly – and beautifully.
Warmly,
Angie
