“Angie, how can you coach people with big teams if you’ve (1) never led a big team, (2) never led a big company, and (3) never worked in corporate?”
These are really good questions to ask an Executive Coach person. It depends on what your GOALS are for hiring an Executive Coach.
As an Executive LIFE Coach, here are MY answers to these questions:
- BECAUSE I have never led a big team, I don’t know “how it’s done.” I can step in with “beginner’s mind” and ask questions that might be out of the box, not the “norm,” and/or introduce a radical new perspective. My super power is LISTENING.
- BECAUSE I have never worked in Corporate, I have ZERO idea what the rules are…and that, by nature, makes me a rule breaker when I coach someone who is steeped in “corporate speak, jargon, and mindset.” My other superpower is asking POWERFUL QUESTIONS.
- People who work with me are often NOT thriving in their careers, roles, or titles. They are beginning to ask:, “Is this all there is? Really?” They are hitting a wall professionally, and sometimes personally. And they’re exhausted from the hustle and grind. They’ve abandoned THEMSELVES to be a cog in the wheel. My secret agenda is HELPING YOU CHOOSE YOURSELF, every day, in every way.
I won’t lie: it can be dangerous to work with someone like me…
…especially if your story is “I can’t have it the way I want it because [THE SYSTEM] doesn’t work that way.”
I will always and forever invite you to stop abandoning yourself because of [THE SYSTEM].
- Do you want true professional fulfillment, where you’re well-rested, excited to get up and get to work, AND you know work is just *part* of your life?
- Do you want to deep personal satisfaction, which looks like a warm, loving, connected romantic relationship; friendships that are true, intimate, and supportive; connections with your kids that are meaningful, hilarious, and real; hobbies that bring you together with people you like, admire, and enjoy creating/moving/learning with?
- Do you want radical inner peace? There’s a steady HUM of contentment, even when the world “out there” looks wacky. You choose yourself because you know deeply what you value, what matters, and what you truly love?
I can, do, and will help my clients with these things.
In my estimation, it’s THE most important work I can do, that you can do. It’s called SELF-LEADERSHIP and it’s beautiful.
