I’m having thoughts about control.
Well, I’m actually thinking about control…
No, more specifically I’m thinking about controlling my thoughts.
Ah, that’s it.
Step 1: Notice my current circumstances. There are facts. Neutral.
Step 2: Notice my THOUGHTS about my current circumstances. Notice without judgment. Gently, and with compassion.
Step 3: Notice the FEELINGS I have when I think those thoughts. Again, gently and with compassion.
Step 4: How do those feelings affect my ACTIONS and behaviors?
Step 5: From those behaviors (actions) what are my RESULTS?
If I’m not happy with my thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and results, I go back and identify (choose) how I actually WANT to feel.
From there, I create a new thought.
With that new thought, I’m embracing the new feeling and get into action (new behavior). Then I look at my results.
The key thing: my circumstance DOES NOT CHANGE. Only my thoughts and feelings shift. They drive my actions/behaviors and THAT generates new results.
I did this process with a client recently and she was positively gobsmacked by it in the best way.
What she wanted out of our coaching: to feel more gratitude, to exit a soul-sucking work environment, and to move towards a more fulfilling future.
We are completing #100 Days of Coaching shortly.
She’s DONE IT.
If you’ve got something you want to change, alter, or transform in your life, #100 Days is POWERFUL.
PM me and let’s talk. I’ve got four spots left and we start the week of January 9th.
Warmly,
Angie
