Integrity is a word I use a lot in my coaching and Wayfinding work.
At its core, Integrity means choosing yourself by telling the Truth (your Truth). Having your own back. Working within your personal Core Values (you do know what those are, right?) and making aligned choices from there.
I was out of integrity for a lot of years. Mine looked like doing what I wanted…but I often didn’t feel safe to SAY what I wanted. So I figured out how to get what I wanted or do what I wanted without saying it plainly (this can be called manipulation, obfuscation, or flat out lying).
To say it caused relational disharmony is an understatement. AND, it was the best set of lessons ever.
Now, I am joyfully reminded that if I am talking about integrity, I need to not only walk my talk, but SPEAK it plainly, too.
If you need a resource, Martha Beck’s book “The Way of Integrity” is so helpful. It’s stuffed full of exercises and instructions.
And if you want some help with this, it’s foundational to my Wayfinding work. PM me and let’s talk!
Warmly,
Angie
