A few minutes ago, I was getting ready to eat a delicious apple snack. As I was squeezing the almond butter out of its packet onto my plate, the corner of the packet poked my thumb….directly into a blister spot!
Ummmm OUCH!
“Dang, that was rude,” I muttered to myself.
And then I stopped.
A number of years ago, I read something by psychologist Gay Hendricks about humans that has stuck with me ever since.
He said something to the effect of “we’re all walking around poking other people in their wounded places, hopefully before other people poke ours.”
And I giggled a little at this today…because I had just poked MYSELF with the almond butter packet, but I was blaming the almond butter packet for poking ME.
There’s surely a metaphor here! <grin>
Isn’t life funny?
Warmly,
Angie
