One of the things I don’t talk a whole lot about is Parts work. I’m practicing it for myself with myself and I use a modified version with my clients when they are really stuck. The modality is called “Internal Family Systems” and it has been a HUGE game changer for me personally and for my clients during our work together.
I spent a bit of time with my parts (the powerful ones and the powerfully protective ones) recently. I was able to identify a lot of words to describe these parts.
The secret to all of this is to LOVE my parts – the good ones and the overly protective ones. They are PART of me, literally, and all have a job to do. Some of them just do their job too well. 😉
As I get to know my parts, we start to work together. To trust each other. THIS leads to radical self-love and radical-self compassion.
This is the place I want to live all the time.
