In May of 2017, my husband and I bought this beast of a motorhome.
By July of 2017, we’d sold most everything we owned and moved in.
Over the course of the next year and a half, we crisscrossed the country, drove north to Canada, drove all the way across Canada to spend the summer in Alaska, then headed down to southwestern Utah for a couple months before returning home to North Carolina.
My insightful friend Julie Bee has started referring to it as our “grown-up sabbatical.”
My husband and I had each been business owners for 12+ years. His health was suffering and I was majorly burned out from sales and marketing.
So we made the life-saving decision to chuck it all and hit the road.
25,000 miles of driving, seeing a number of national parks, meeting the coolest people, getting to really know a number of small towns, having to work together as a team to problem solve allllll the issues that happen driving a 38 foot home on wheels…
It remains the BEST decision we could have made.
We had time to chill out. Check out. Tune out.
We got to tune into ourselves in ways we never had before.
It changed everything for the better!
Have you ever considered taking a grown-up sabbatical? What’s stopping you?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Warmly,
Angie
