I was having coffee recently with Bill. He and I are part of a fledgling networking group that our friend Steve has put together.
As we chatted, he said, “Angie, can I ask you a question? What do you tell your clients about switching gears between tasks?”
He explained that after a morning full of client meetings he has trouble sitting down and focusing on ‘administrivia’ when he finally gets back to the office.
Turns out, he was naturally helping his mind switch gears, but was feeling guilty for it.
I explained that we’re people, not machines. Our brains really do need a rest between different kinds of work and we need a transition period. We simply aren’t wired to switch from task-to-task-to-task. Don’t get me wrong – we do that – but our work isn’t any better for it.
If you’re finding yourself awkwardly or inefficiently switching gears all day, if you’re finding yourself frustrated by it, or if you don’t know how to naturally help your mind rest before moving to the next thing, let me help you.
Your work – and your mind – will be better for it!
Simply reply to this email and say, “Angie, I’m ready.” I’ll reach out to you and handle the rest.
Sincerely,
Angie
P.S. It’s worked for dozens of my clients. Like William, a business owner in Charlotte, NC, who said, ““I like to be organized but have a hard time keeping up with everything while also running a growing business. Angie helped me get past some of the mental blocks I had in place which were holding me back. She offered creative ways to handle the flood of incoming information and deal with the backlog of unprocessed email. Her enthusiasm in helping others get organized is contagious. This is vital counsel…”
