In my work with really successful folks, here are some themes I see:
- Burnout – you’re a high-achiever, you own and lead your own thriving business, or you’re rising in your career…AND you’re nearing a “wall” professionally and personally. Something’s got to give and soon.
- Boundaries – you give life your all, and then some. You say YES. That saying, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” isn’t really part of your lexicon. You feel squirrely saying NO, asking for what you actually want, or turning someone away. The guilt of it slowly grinds you down.
- Breaks – as in – you never give yourself one. Vacations…sometimes. But work creeps in. You make a mistake and you pound yourself internally for it. Deep down, you never feel like “enough.” Compassion and love are things you extend to *other* people…not yourself.
In full transparency – at different points in my life, ALL OF THESE resonated with me. I had trouble in each area and had to learn to truly rest, to communicate my needs/wants/desires, to set healthy boundaries, and to give myself a break (spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically).
In my #100Days of Coaching program, I work with women (and some men) on these three “B”s. We explore and transform the areas the feel heavy, itchy, and uncomfortable. It requires honesty, courage, and a willingness to BE in new ways.
And, it’s transformational in the best ways.
As my client CB said recently after working with me, “I am a decidedly more calm, peaceful, and confident person. I trust MYSELF. I’m clear-minded about what I want and need.”
THAT is what Executive LIFE Coaching and Wayfinding are all about.
