Ok, so these are supposed to be business tips, but I just LOVE this residential organizing tip for closets that are stuffed full of clothes. (And I bet most of you are reading this at home anyway).
Ok, so you know you need to purge some clothes from the closet, but you’re just not sure what to get rid of, right?
Try this: turn all your hangers around and hang them the opposite way on the rod.
After you’ve worn that piece of clothing, put it back in the closet, hanging it the normal way (well, maybe do that after you’ve washed or dry cleaned it).
At the end of a predetermined time period (3- 6 months, maybe), scan the closet for hangers that are still hanging in the opposite direction.
You’ll immediately see what HASN’T been worn in that 3-6 month time period.
All those clothes you aren’t wearing? Box them up and donate them to Goodwill, sell them on consignment, or have a clothing trade with your girlfriends (I don’t think guys do clothing trades…)
You can do this seasonally for different types of clothes, too.
And don’t forget about the hall coat closet and the kids’ closets!
