Some of my Executive Coaching and Wayfinding can be summed up like this:
ME: What do you want?
Client: I’m afraid to say.
ME: It’s okay, You’re safe here. Say it out loud.
Client: I want…X, Y, Z. Oh, and this one other thing.
ME: Ah-ha! That other thing is IT!
Client: I can’t have that. [Gives one or many excuses for why not]
ME: I will every so politely and emphatically ask you to stop making yourself wrong for wanting what you want.
Client: I don’t know how to do that…
ME: I hear you and know this path because I was on it for a long time. Here’s how we start…
And thus begins the most amazing relationships and client transformations ever!
