How Your Subconsious Affects Your Ability to Get Organized

You might be shaking your head and asking yourself, “What the heck does my subconscious have to do with getting organized?’

Isn’t getting organized about matching folders, neat labels, keeping like with like, and having a clean desktop?

Doesn’t organization start and end with good habits using a calendar, To Do list, and the smart use of technology?

Isn’t being organized more about discipline, routine, and good habits?

It is. And it isn’t.

Are you confused yet?

Let’s take a journey together.

My client, Helen (name and circumstances changed, of course), was deeply frustrated with her business. She was running here, running there, a few minutes late for most things. Sometimes she forgot to bring crucial information with her to a meeting. Most days she wasn’t able to get to her To Do list (the important but not urgent work) because she was attending to client needs, putting out fires, and doing all the other stuff that was right in front of her.

She’d given up trying to keep on top of emails. Her list of business contacts was a mess. Business cards stacks were growing, getting lost, and getting out of date. She marketed her business occasionally, jumped intosocial media here and there, and sent the occasional thank you note.

Mostly though, Helen was in react mode, doing whatever caught her attention, attending to the next thing that popped up via email, phone, or that was on the top of the growing pile on her desk.

So ask yourself again, “What the heck does my subconscious have to do with getting organized?’

The quick and dirty answer: everything. Your subconscious RULES your life. Helen’s subconscious was ruling HER life, her schedule, and everything in between.

And the ruler was?

Fear.

Helen was afraid to put boundaries around her time. She was afraid to commit to doing the important work. Helen was afraid to say “no” to something (especially to people) when doing that something wasn’t the best and highest use of her time. She was afraid even of filing, putting things away, or (gasp!) throwing things away! Helen’s subconscious was letting the outside world (people, commitments, circumstances, stuff) rule her inside world, instead of the other way around.

In what ways is YOUR subconscious ruling your world (and your business)? How is it affecting your time, your attention, your physical space, and your relationships?

Have you ever thought about working with your subconscious, moving from fear to abundance, and how it can help you to get and stay organized?

If the answer yes, it’s time to sign up for a Solutions Session. The mind rocks & rules. Sometimes subconsciously & sometimes consciously. We can work on the conscious part so that it eventually becomes part of our subconscious.
