I published this a couple of years ago and it still resonates.
I watched three powerful films this weekend as I stay inside and avoid the heat:
- Rocketman (Elton John)
- David Foster: Off the Record
- Becoming (Michelle Obama)
I have cried more this weekend watching these stories than I have in a long time. I’ve taken pages of notes and quotes. I have a number of blog posts percolating and the same number of powerful quotes.
Go watch these films. Listen to the stories of success, heartbreak, fear, and failure. See yourself in these stories. Ask the hard questions of yourself.
I’ll leave you to ponder this quote from Michelle Obama. She’s listened to a very strong young Latina woman talk about her life – finishing high school to be the first one to graduate in her family, an after school job to earn money, helping care for and feed three younger brothers, a father who is ill and cannot work as much. The young woman wonders why she is there with the group, getting the opportunity to meet and talk with the former First Lady of the United States of America.
Michelle says to the group, “And she [the young woman] wonders why she’s here. That story [she just shared about life], with all its highs and lows, and what seems so ordinary and what seems like nothing to you IS YOUR POWER.”
What is YOUR power?
And how are you using it?
Not sure? I can help. Reach out.
Warmly,
Angie
