In the last few years, I’ve been on a mission to wear things out. And I’ve done a great job, if I may be so bold in saying so.
Several pairs of pants, plenty of shoes, some purses and bags, office supplies, and even some of my very limiting beliefs about myself…
My focus now is buying quality items that will last me a long time. I invest my money in quality food, quality shoes, quality clothing, and even in quality learning. I choose carefully and selectively.
Our “Wal-Mart mindset” in this world bothers me a lot. Lowest common denominator, a disposable society, and a lack of caring about lasting value is really sad to me.
The buildup of waste is beginning to show, too. Nowhere for our trash to go (except into huge plastic islands fouling our oceans). Filthy air. Lack of concern for what will happen with our waste and pollution seven generations from now. Even the better, faster, cheaper mindset in business is totally harmful.
There are answers. And while I don’t want to turn this into a political rant, I do want to tie it all directly to being organized, efficient, and productive.
Here’s how:
- When you have few, quality items, you not only save money in the long-run, you pollute less by throwing less away AND you need a smaller space (home or office) to “house” these things.
- When you invest in quality learning, you grow faster and have the ability to actually make fewer, more impactful changes that pay off long term.
- When you simplify your activities, you can do less, really well rather than trying to do more, more, more better (which is a sure road to insanity).
- When your life is simplified, you are happier and more content. This in turn affects EVERYTHING and EVERYONE in your life.
I invite you to spend some time in your closet looking at what’s there. Are there shoes and clothing and bags you can donate or sell? How can you simplify? How can you introduce quality into your life a little bit at at time?
I invite you to spend some time looking at your calendar. What activities fill you with dread or feel like obligations? Can you stop them, even if it means disappointing people? With more free time, you can rest, or choose higher-quality, soul-nurturing activities.
And finally, I invite you invest in some quality learning. If it’s for your business, find a coach or consultant who can help you make some room to explore making impactful, quality changes. If it’s for your life, what do you want to learn more about – fitness, nutrition, setting boundaries, getting what you want? Do it!
How can I help you? One way is to schedule a Make Some Room Rendezvous session. Business owners and professionals who have invested in this time-saving, money-making, stress-reducing session have raved about the clarity they feel and are excited about the opportunities they’ve discovered. Slowing down is actually the answer to many of your vexing questions.
And I want that for you, too. When you’re ready, just reach out and say so. I’ve got two in-person and three phone sessions available for February. Grab yours before they’re snapped up.
Make some room,
Angie
