Are you bogged down with SEP’s?
“Wait. What are SEP’s?” you ask.
These are Someone Else’s Problems.
I recently asked business people I know what their biggest issues were related to getting organized.
Over and over, the answer was TIME.
And in my experience, nothing steals time faster than those pesky SEP’s that crop up during the day.
What’s my solution for this?
It’s twofold.
- Priorities
- Boundaries
Sure, this might sound like the same advice you’ve heard over and over. But have you implemented them? Like, no kidding put them to work?
I’d bet not or you probably wouldn’t be reading this.
Priorities come into play when you know the highest and best use for your time. And I’d wager nearly half of what eats up our precious minutes and hours are related to those SEP’s. Requests. Fires. Minutia.
The important step, though, is #2 – those boundaries.
What systems and habits have you put in place which allow you to FOCUS on those priorities – those important but not urgent tasks – to the exclusion of all else?
Your best and highest priorities move the business forward. They spark creativity. They capture the details for the services and products that delight your clients and increase your revenues.
Much of my work with clients focuses on priorities and boundaries – getting clear, reducing SEP’s, and creating habits that allow space and time for important work to get done.
If you’re drowning in SEP’s, you can’t focus. And you won’t be able to see the forest for the trees.
Let me introduce you to my chainsaw:
